Dr Imogen Patterson’s specialist urology training was undertaken through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She now holds Fellowship of the College (FRACS) and participates in the professional community of the specialty through membership with the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ).
Before her career in medicine, Dr Patterson trained at the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College, Duntroon, later serving as a Signals Corps officer in the Australian Army. The leadership, teamwork and operational discipline developed during this time continue to shape her structured and considered approach to surgical care.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Patterson provides specialist advice in aviation medicine and is the only CASA-approved aviation consultant in urology. In this role, she supports pilots and aviation personnel who require urological assessment as part of medical certification.
Dr Patterson consults and performs surgery at Sydney Adventist Hospital (The San) and Wyvern Private Hospital. She also provides regular regional outreach services in Bundaberg, improving access to specialist urological care for patients living outside metropolitan areas.
